1. Headingley – 1st Test
England and India enjoy one of cricket’s longest and most passionate rivalries, set against a rich colonial history. Their first Test at Leeds proved an unforgettable encounter as India amassed an unprecedented first innings total of 430 runs before England chased it down in an action-packed final day to seal victory.
India’s top order enjoyed an exceptional day as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant all recorded their maiden Test centuries, but Ben Duckett stole the show with his sublime 149 that laid the foundations for world record chase. Contrary to what some memes suggested he was far more seasoned and intelligent player; Bumrah only denied him 100 due to an overstepping when he was on 136; this innings will live long in memory.
2. Edgbaston – 2nd Test
At Edgbaston, the second Test ended on its final day, with England trailing by 35 and hoping for a draw as their best option. But Siraj’s brilliant yorker on delivery brought an exciting competition to an end.
Harry Brook was like Bambi on ice as he jabbed one into the pitch and couldn’t punch it back to him, becoming trapped LBW.
Deep, who replaced Bumrah at the start of day two, showed exceptional movement and exploited cracks in the surface to take four wickets that levelled the series and established himself in Test cricket. Later in his innings-winning performance against England he claimed his maiden five-wicket haul for 5-83 to become an instant hero among India supporters.
3. Rothesay – 3rd Test
KL Rahul defied predictions of poor batsmanship to score another incredible century at Lord’s, becoming only the fourth overseas batsman after Kohli, Tendulkar and Dravid to achieve two centuries in England.
England bowlers were rewarded for their hard work as they edged closer to an unlikely victory, yet India held on until the final day and a tight draw. England were led by Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes returning from injury; supported by Shubman Gill’s brilliant run-outs.
India was denied a record fifth consecutive Test series win by one costly error from Gill, Rahul, Jadeja and Washington Sundar who all amassed 400-plus runs between them during this Test series.
4. Headingley – 4th Test
England had to defend a modest target of 371 early on the final day, but Ben Duckett’s brilliant innings was one of England’s finest at Headingley and proved crucial in foiling India’s attempts at one of the most nerve-wracking Test run chases ever witnessed in history.
Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds played host to the fourth Ashes Test of 1948 and Arthur Morris and Don Bradman put on an incredible final-day batting masterclass, scoring 182 runs between them and an unbeaten 173. Australia managed a world record win on this acclaimed final day batting performance that is still remembered fondly today.

England started off strongly, with Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett sharing an 83-run opening stand before India staged an impressive comeback spearheaded by Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant to bring them back from the brink of defeat.
England’s fielding may have faltered – Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan received reprieves on 20 and 40 runs respectively, Harry Brook dropped two catches during the second innings and Atkinson turfed Sudharsan in the cordon on seven; yet they still had the chance to secure an historic series-levelling win – nearly succeeding!
6. Headingley – 6th Test
Now that the rain has stopped, the pitch remains green but requires work to become suitable for Test cricket. Robinson believes it should flatten out quickly due to expected heat waves.
Pant’s 107 not only broke his previous best Test score but also edged him closer to 3,000 runs. He reached this landmark through his fifth century in 44 Test matches – all achieved with an audacious six over the stands that left the crowd cheering loudly for more!
At AMT Headingley, there’s an iconic moment as integral to England’s history as William Shakespeare’s “To be or not to be soliloquy”. The magic it invokes never loses its magic with repeated telling.
7. Edgbaston – 7th Test
The match was an engaging display of opposing styles. Alastair Cook nearly achieved triple century with only six runs missing out from becoming history’s fastest triple century scorer, yet India capitulated without resistance as they scored 710 runs to set up record total for their home side.
Edgbaston hosted the inaugural senior limited overs game to be played under floodlights in English cricket in 1997 when Warwickshire faced Somerset; additionally it served as host venue of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Cricket can be an arduous sport to understand, with positions like gully and backward square leg fielders as well as different formats including Test Matches, One Day Internationals (ODI’s) and Twenty20 matches all taking place simultaneously. 9. Headingley – 9th Test
India-England relations have evolved over the years from colonial conflict into an intense modern-day cricketing rivalry that has given us some iconic moments and dramatic encounters.
Rahul Dravid led India to an unlikely Test series victory in England during the early 2000s that became their last such series win outside India for nearly 19 years – Sourav Ganguly’s shirt-waving celebration on Lord’s balcony became a lasting reminder of this series victory.
At Headingley, India batted first and amassed a huge total of 471 before Ollie Pope and Harry Brook made a valiant comeback and reduced India’s deficit to six runs. Rishabh Pant’s century was followed by some stellar bowling by Jasprit Bumrah that gave India the edge, with outstanding tackling from Morgan Knowles, Jez Litten and Kai Pearce-Paul leading England back into contention – playing on Remembrance weekend as they donned limited-edition poppy jerseys in tribute of service personnel and remembering service personnel during this matchup!
10. Headingley – 10th Test
Headingley was host to one of the fiercest Test matches ever played, featuring India taking an initial first-innings lead before England made an astonishing recovery, led by Ollie Pope and Harry Brook, to reduce it to just 61 runs at stumps.
At that time, both teams were closely matched, although India’s progress since earning full Test status in 1947 had been greatly accelerated thanks to iconic players such as Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev. This period of cricketing rivalry was set within India’s colonial legacy.
Pope and Brook’s epic unbeaten tenth-wicket partnership of 61 at Headingley broke the previous record held by Fred Trueman and Derek Underwood – setting a mark likely to stand the test of time. England have not seen such an unbeaten tenth-wicket partnership of over 60 for five consecutive matches at Headingley before! It may stand for some time.
