1. Dolphins vs. Falcons 2021
The Miami Dolphins opened up the 2021 season with an impressive win against the New England Patriots before dropping two straight games to Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints before rebounding with an overtime victory against Jets. Despite a poor start, Dolphins have remained competitive in most games this season.
The team has also benefited from being much healthier this season compared to last, when multiple starters were sidelined due to injury. That bodes well for their matchup against the Falcons; The Dolphins have been underdogs in four of five games so far and covered once. Furthermore, their opponents have only scored six points this year against them!
De’Von Achane has been one of the Dolphins’ standout players this season, scoring three rushing touchdowns himself. Unfortunately, the team as a whole has only averaged 67 yards per game when running backwards and given up seven rushing touchdowns this year. Additionally, they are struggling to stop passing attacks.
The Falcons are a well-balanced team in all areas, ranking higher in passing yards per game than Miami Dolphins and boasting better offensive average and more takeaways this season than Miami. Due to these factors, they make a good pick against them this Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium; opening odds for this matchup peg them as 2.5-point underdogs; while total over/under points remain unchanged at 47.5.
2. Dolphins vs. Falcons 2023
After an initially slow start to 2023 season, Miami Dolphins quickly turned things around. Their offense improved each week until scoring 325 points during their final three regular-season games – highlighted by their 38-7 victory against Jacksonville Jaguars on December 16. This victory marked their first ranked opponent win since 2000 as well as ending one of their longest playoff droughts ever.
Miami’s defense also saw significant progress. They allowed only nine touchdowns all season and restricted big plays by opponents, while they managed to prevent turnovers and boast one of the league’s premier pass rushes.
The Dolphins made waves this offseason with their acquisitions that solidified them as an AFC East powerhouse, earning a wild-card spot. Unfortunately, in their playoff debut against Kansas City Chiefs – eventual repeat Super Bowl champions – they lost 26-7, in what turned out to be one of the coldest conditions ever experienced in NFL history and was a rematch from last year’s wild-card matchup; their loss marked another consecutive playoff defeat and one they did not win this time around.
The Dolphins can clinch their division with a win against Baltimore Ravens this Sunday, following their historic 70-20 rout of the Denver Broncos. After making headlines by beating quality teams such as these two, Dolphins fans now believe they can defeat any opponent they face – like 1968 Dallas Cowboys did through three games! 132 points through three games is second highest total ever through four games (just two behind 1968 Dallas Cowboys’ total points total). Unfortunately for them though, depth remains an issue as wide receiver Tyreek Hill continues to suffer an ankle sprain while speedster Jaylen Waddle is questionable due to an ankle sprain as well.
4. Dolphins vs. Falcons 2025
Miami defeated Atlanta 5-0 last season, giving them an opportunity to etch a lasting memory into this year’s rivalry game against them. If their health allows, Miami should be able to play at their peak performance against them and win an important win against them.
The Dolphins will draw plenty of eyes this season thanks to a prime-time schedule which features five games and one nationally broadcast international match against NFC runner-up Washington Commanders in Madrid. Their defense should have vastly improved since 2024; and Tua Tagovailoa could provide an early indicator as to his progress this season.
After enduring a difficult road trip, the Dolphins return home for a Thursday night matchup against an intriguing division rival in Week 8. This will give them an excellent chance to regain some momentum after their struggles against San Francisco; hopefully these struggles were just temporary setbacks in an otherwise talented roster’s journey.
Atlanta’s lack of an effective middle-of-the-field passing game is drawing scrutiny, and quarterback Michael Penix Jr’s numbers against the Jets on NextGenStats are raising alarm bells. Without improving at this position, the Falcons may struggle to contain Jaylen Waddle and the Dolphins’ offense in this matchup.
Miami will host Pittsburgh Steelers for its only other division rival game of 2018 on Monday evening in December, taking advantage of home field advantages to try to win their fourth consecutive Monday meeting since 2011. While Pittsburgh has won each time these teams met previously on Monday nights, Miami may be able to turn things around by taking full advantage of some advantages available there.
5. Dolphins vs. Falcons 2026
The Dolphins ended their six-game losing streak by defeating the Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, winning 34-10 on an efficient offensive performance and tight defensive display. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw four touchdown passes, running back De’Von Achane racked up 91 scrimmage yards and scored, and their defense held Atlanta to just 45 yards on the ground – led by Linebacker Jordyn Brooks with 10 tackles (7 solo), one sack, three tackles for loss as well as safety Ifeatu Melifonwu who added nine tackles (four solo), one fumble recovery, forced fumble recovery, one forced fumble and one forced fumble from her opponent Atlanta Falcons.
Miami won their inaugural road victory of 2025 against Atlanta with an 18 point margin, marking their greatest margin of victory ever against them. Even so, they still face an uphill climb toward reaching playoffs this year.
This matchup features two teams who rank near the bottom of their league in several statistical categories, struggling to produce points throughout this season and this game could end up being an low-scoring affair.
Thankfully, the Falcons have been much more productive at home than away. They have scored an impressive total of 88 points across their last two home games and covered both spreads in these contests.
This week, Atlanta’s greatest strength will lie in their running game. Bijan Robinson leads the league with 136.3 yards per game on average and will face off against a Dolphins defense that allows an average of 5.2 yards per carry – while tight end Drake London poses an especially lethal receiving option against them.
