David Miller
David Andrew Miller is a South African cricketer known for his aggressive left-handed middle order batplay and occasional wicket keeping duties during limited overs international matches. Miller is widely respected for his power hitting skills; in fact, he holds the record for fastest ever T20I century against full member ICC opposition, accomplished within just 35 deliveries!
Miller made his first-class debut for the Dolphins during the domestic SuperSport Series of 2007-08 and played an integral part in their runners-up finish of that competition. Additionally, Miller also featured in two matches in Pro20 Series Twenty20 competition for them that season and averaged 13 runs per match on average.
South Africa made it all the way to the 2024 World Cup final before missing out through injury, yet he has still been selected to represent Proteas in their next three T20I matches.
Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan has emerged as one of Afghanistan cricket’s marquee names in recent times, becoming one of the highest-sought bowlers worldwide. At an IPL auction held in February 2017 where any Associate player could bid, Rashid was secured for Rs 4 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad – becoming an instant star worldwide!
During his debut season, he quickly made an impression by being the most expensive bowler of the tournament and was even named ICC T20I Player of the Year. Soon thereafter he established himself as an integral component in Sunrisers side taking 93 wickets with an economy rate of 6.33; also showing great fielding abilities including making some spectacular catches against Colin de Grandhomme at Chinnaswamy stadium.
At the 2022 tournament, he made waves with his performances, becoming an essential piece of Sunrisers success. He made an impressionful showing in World Cup Qualifier to help propel their squad all the way into semi-finals; later becoming captain for the rest of tournament.
In the final, Rashid again left an indelible mark with his performances and won the man of the match award. He took four wickets to help his team advance further in competition and is widely considered one of T20 cricket’s star performers as well as being an effective Test player. Rashid’s unique bowling can make life miserable for batsmen as it spins to either right or left or continues straight – you never know what Rashid will dish up next!
Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan hails from Barbados but relocated to England as part of a sporting scholarship at Dulwich College. In 2007 against Middlesex he made his first-class debut for Surrey against Middlesex taking 2-41 and winning the NBC Denis Compton Award as most promising young player of the year; further proving himself against Durham in match two with figures of 3-42.
Jordan retained his place in England’s T20I squad despite not playing in the ODI series against South Africa, playing in all three matches but not contributing to victory in any. While expensive in both, he proved more successful during the final match when England limited Pakistan to 247/8 and won by four wickets.
He earned his inaugural Test call-up against Sri Lanka, making his debut in the opening Test match. Although less effective with his ball than expected, he made 17 unbeaten runs with his bat during that match – while being significantly cheaper in subsequent tests but England were unable to force results from either match.
Jordan was an integral member of England T20 World Cup team, playing every match and helping the squad reach the semi-finals. In a quarter-final against Afghanistan he took 3-28 and helped win an unlikely win before being called in as replacement for an injured Mark Wood and leading to a victory against India in semi-final matchup.
Jordan was also selected for England’s one-day series against New Zealand and made his debut by taking two wickets on debut en route to an emphatic 2-0 lead in his first match, making his way 2-0 up after taking only four overs in total against New Zealand. Unfortunately he wasn’t as effective in subsequent matches, scoring just 56 runs as England triumphed by seven wickets; although even so he took two wickets as they came back and tied off their series by defeating New Zealand by two runs in final match to level the series at 1-1.
