South Africa made great strides toward victory despite a delayed start due to incessant rain at Cardiff, thanks primarily to Jofra Archer being replaced with Luke Wood, and taking out Ryan Rickelton and Dewald Brevis in his last over.

T20I
T20 Internationals (T20Is) are fast and exciting versions of cricket that often involve two national cricket teams batting for 20 “overs,” consisting of six balls each over. T20I matches can introduce newcomers to the sport while providing ample fun for both players and fans.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) tracks how each national cricket team performs in T20I matches and uses this data to rank them. Top teams are considered world-class; being among them can be considered an honor. To get there, teams must win certain number of matches against other teams – winning more will result in extra points which could see them rise up the rankings further.
Quinton de Kock will lead the Proteas this year after succeeding Faf du Plessis as captain. De Kock has an excellent track record in one-day internationals (ODIs), so he should help to turn around recent form in this format for South Africa. Furthermore, Dale Steyn will return to their ranks ahead of their series against England.
Cricket, the world’s most beloved sport, has witnessed rapid expansion over recent decades. By 2017 alone there were over 100 million registered cricketers worldwide; an increase from just 80 million registered in 2001. Cricket has also expanded internationally into many new nations never previously participating in it; now 104 members of ICC hold both One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International International status.
South Africa will host four Test matches and twelve ODIs during its 2019-20 season, with four taking place at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg and two each held in Centurion and Cape Town – as well as six held between Durban and Port Elizabeth – before concluding at Cape Town for Cape Town’s final Test and Durban/Port Elizabeth for their respective ODIs. All matches will be streamed live through various platforms by Cricket South Africa.
ODI
An One Day International (ODI) cricket match is played between international teams under standard ICC rules and typically lasts seven hours before one team wins by having the highest total at the end. These limited overs matches are generally considered the pinnacle of limited-overs cricket; when tied games occur or teams reach targets but were unable to complete them within timeframe, a super over may be used as the deciding factor between teams who reached targets but didn’t finish them in due time, a super over may be used as well as tiebreaker.
During the initial 10 overs of an ODI match, fielding restrictions are placed on the bowling side to limit how many fielders may be out in the outfield and only attacking fields can be set. After 10 overs have passed however, all three types of fields may be used.
Faf du Plessis steps down from his role as South Africa captain, with Quinton de Kock taking his place. Lungi Ngidi and Temba Bavuma make their ODI debuts for South Africa while Jofra Archer is injured and will not take part in T20I series.
Test
England were made to work hard for their 14-run win against South Africa at Cardiff after starting off under adverse weather conditions. South Africa reached 97-5 after seven overs, forcing a review which reduced it to 69 off five overs – Jos Buttler hit three sixes as hosts made progress but were ultimately unable to push further with their innings as Corbin Bosch and Marco Jansen both took two wickets each in quick succession.
Luke Wood replaced Jofra Archer on a sodden Cardiff outfield, quickly dismissing Ryan Rickelton and Lhuan-dre Pretorius before striking again in the fifth over when he caught Andile Phehlukwayo at short fine leg – but Buttler kept alive the chase with 25 runs off 11 balls with three sixes!
Rain wreaked havoc for England as they lost openers Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings early. Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma restored order, before Temba was caught behind off Adil Rashid for 74 from 61 balls off Adil Rashid – leaving them needing 223 from 20 overs to win! Additionally, six WTC points were taken off as penalty against them due to bowling too slowly at an inefficient pace; furthermore ticket packages and travel arrangements for the 2027 South Africa vs England Test Series and One Day Internationals should go on sale beginning December 2017 so register your interest with Freedom Destinations now so you’re amongst first informed when these become available!
Series
South Africa made short work of England in South Africa by winning three out of four Test matches 3-0, including an incredible final Test at Centurion with just one run separating the teams. South Africa claimed Newlands and Centurion respectively before an incredible finale saw England defeated once more en route to 30 defeats there in total; additionally they were deducted six World Cup qualifying points due to slow over rates in Test two.
Jofra Archer was replaced late by Luke Wood and soon took the wicket of Ryan Rickelton on the first ball of England’s chase for 207 in 20 overs. England struggled throughout their innings with Jos Buttler keeping them competitive with 25 runs from 11 balls, including three sixes from Jos Buttler before being removed by South African spinners Corbin Bosch and Marco Jansen and later Tom Banton and Lutho Sipamla as South Africa reached 207-6 from 20 overs.
Due to rain, the first T20I was reduced to nine overs per side and Proteas quickly amassed 197-4 after lunch break. England struggled against their reduced target, falling to 43-5 before Sam Curran hit a six that gave hope; unfortunately he was caught at backpost off Bosch shortly thereafter, effectively ending their chances.
South Africa recently appointed Quinton de Kock as their new T20I captain following Faf du Plessis’ departure, in an expanded squad. David Miller and Lungi Ngidi will likely play key roles for South Africa at the 2022 World Cup hosted in Australia and New Zealand.
