IPL 2025 proved to be an extremely difficult season for bowlers as many struggled to contain big scores across most pitches. After an underwhelming start, IPL 2026 has shown signs of progress, with several close games that have drawn fans closer together and disappointed bowlers alike. However, bowlers still have options available to them to reduce the chasing advantage. Furthermore, second innings evening games will see their balls changed after 10 overs in order to counter dew effects.

With these changes in place, it will be interesting to see whether or not the chasing advantage continues this season. There will still be plenty of exciting games ahead.

The IPL has now reached its tenth edition, with BCCI considering expanding to 94-match season for next media rights cycle. To do this would require shifting its calendar away from 12 double-headers that currently make up its nine-week schedule; franchise officials have expressed support for this change but broadcaster enthusiasm is key as midseason slump often decreases viewing numbers drastically.

MS Dhoni joined his teammates as they all surrounded him and the trophy; both his daughter was present as they all enjoyed this momentous occasion together.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has hinted that the tournament could expand further in future. According to him, BCCI are considering an all home-and-away 94 match format for their next media rights cycle in 2028; this would mark a significant change and could see additional teams join. Whether or not this happens will depend on factors like broadcaster enthusiasm as well as midseason double headers that may need to take place during that cycle.
